  The Last Good Beer

Tonight's was a bottle of BridgePort Ebenezer - it may well be the last microbrew for the next two weeks and I wanted to make it a good one. Italy is wine country, but I've never been much for the stuff.

Bags are packed and ready - our little cat Callie ducked into my roller bag. She's been circling and meowing all afternoon, her feline instincts I'm sure are telling her that her little world is about to change.

My alarm is set for 5:45am, which is mercifully at least two hours later than when we went to London last year. Small comfort, as we will spend at least 20 hours travelling - 14 hours in the airplane and 6 hours in O'Hare and Heathrow airports. By the time we get to Venice, it will be 3pm Venice time on Saturday. Thank goodness I have an unread Grisham paperback and a newly updated iPod tucked into the carryon.

See you in Italy!
Watch the adventure unfold.
